What is Suregreen plastic mesh fencing made from?

Our garden plastic mesh fencing is made from green or black high-density polyethylene plastic (HDPE).

The HDPE plastic that we use is:

• A semi-rigid plastic that will easily mount onto frames or attach to fencing posts
• Lightweight yet very strong, with a large strength-to-density ratio
• Long-lasting – resistant to mould, rotting and insect attack
• Malleable, making it easy to curve and bend
• Smooth with no sharp parts, making it excellent for use around animals and children
• Either green or black, allowing it to blend into the background easily

This means that you will have effective and reliable plastic fencing which will last for years to come.

Why does the aperture/hole size of the plastic mesh fencing matter?

We offer our fencing mesh in 5mm holes, 20mm holes and 50mm holes.

The hole size that you require depends on what you are trying to achieve – for example, if you are using our plastic fencing as a windbreak or for pest control then you may require the smallest aperture. If you are looking to create garden fencing while retaining an open feel or are using it for climbing plants then you may want to opt for the larger holes.

How can I cut the plastic mesh fencing?

You can use secateurs or a strong pair of scissors to cut our garden fencing mesh. Please wear gloves and ensure safety when cutting the mesh.

How do I put up Suregreen plastic mesh fencing?

Our plastic mesh fencing should be fixed to wooden fence posts when being used for fencing. An ideal method would be to batten the mesh to the posts (mesh between the wooden fence post and a timber batten), thus spreading the fixing across the whole length of the plastic mesh.

If you fix your mesh to timber posts using U-nails, it could result in individual plastic mesh filaments taking the strain for the whole fence - this may result in some filaments ripping during excessive forces. Suregreen supplies galvanised steel or PVC-coated straining line wire to keep the plastic mesh fence taut and stop the mesh drooping between fence posts. We strongly recommend using straining line wire if you require a longer-lasting fence
