☼ Hexagonal Gabion Mesh Description

Hexagonal Gabion Mesh is a common type of gabion with hexagonal holes, which is made of high tensile strength, high corrosion resistance galvanized wire, pvc coated wire or galfan wire (zinc-aluminium alloy wire) woven by fully automatic weaving machine.

Hexagonal gabion mesh includes two types of gabion box and gabion mattress, which are commonly used in river and dam protection, and can effectively prevent the scouring of embankment by water flow and prevent flooding, so it has been widely used all over the world.

☼ Hexagonal Gabion Mesh Types

☼ According to the different materials used, hexagonal gabion mesh includes 3 types: galvanized gabion mesh, PVC coated gabion mesh, galfan coating gabion mesh.

● Type 1: Galvanized gabion mesh, a widely used type of gabion mesh, has a zinc layer on the surface of the wire, which can effectively prevent corrosion by air and water. According to the different amount of zinc, it can be divided into ordinary galvanized and high galvanized, the amount of zinc on ordinary galvanized gabion mesh is: 40-60g/㎡, and the amount of zinc on high galvanized gabion mesh is: 200-500g/㎡. The higher the zinc content, the longer the service life.

● Type 2: PVC coated gabion mesh, the inner wire is generally galvanized wire or galfan wire, the outer edge is wrapped with a layer of PVC coating, the coating thickness is generally 1mm, PVC coated gabion mesh compared to galvanized gabion mesh, has a better corrosion resistance, the service life of up to 20 years or more.

● Type 3: Galfan coating gabion mesh, made from zinc aluminum alloy coating wire, including two types: 95% zinc, 5% aluminum or 90% zinc 10% aluminum coating, due to the zinc-aluminium coating, compared with galvanized gabion mesh, the corrosion resistance is stronger, and the service life is longer, generally can reach more than 50 years.

☼ According to the different shapes and structures, Hexagonal gabion mesh includes, gabion basket and gabion mattress.

● Type 1: Hexagonal gabion basket, which can be filled with appropriate sized rocks to form a retaining wall structure. There is a diaphragm in the middle, which can enhance its strength. Gabion box is widely used in river control, dam protection, landscape and so on.

● Type 2: Gabion mattress, also known as reno mattress, is a mesh box structure with a height of generally 0.3m, filled with stones, which is generally applied in slope protection or laid on the riverbed to prevent the water from scouring the riverbed.

☼ Hexagonal Gabion Mesh Production

Our factory choose high quality galvanised wire, plastic-coated wire or zinc-aluminium alloy coated wire, and weave it through automatic gabion mesh weaving machine to reach the required length and then cut it. After cutting, the gabion mesh will be wrapped around the four edges on the thicker wire, and then about 100 sets of gabion mesh sheets will be stacked together, and finally compressed by the bale press machine to reduce its size for easy transportation.

☼ Installation of Hexagonal Gabion Mesh

1. Assemble the gabion box: Lay the gabion mesh flat and fasten them together securely with fasteners or wires on several sides except the top.

2. Filling the gabion box: Fill the gabion box with suitable sized stones or gravel. Ensure that the material is evenly distributed and compacted to provide stability.

3. Close the gabion box: Once the gabion box is filled, cover it with a lid or secure the top edge with wire or fasteners. This will prevent spillage of material.
